Tyler James

There was a single blue line of crayon drawn across every wall in the house.
What does it mean? i asked
A pirate needs the sight of the sea, he said & then he pulled his eye patch down & turned and sailed away.

Eric Robert

There comes a time in every rightly constructed boy's life that he has a raging desire to go somewhere and dig for hidden treasure.

The first time his laughter unfurled its wings in the wind,
we new that the world would never be the same

Tree Series

Because they are primeval, because they outlive us, because they are fixed, trees seem to emanate a sense of permanence. And though rooted in earth, they seem to touch the sky. For these reasons it is natural to feel we might learn wisdom from them, to haunt about them with the idea that if we could only read their silent riddle rightly we should learn some secret vital to our own lives; or even, more specifically, some secret vital to our real, our lasting and spiritual existence. - Kim Taplin, Tongues in Trees, 1989, p. 14.

This is a tree root series for my ceramics class. I had to do 3 representational and 3 abstract versions of an object, and i choose tree roots. (if you didn't already know this about me, i love trees). I would love to get some feed back and thoughts on them! hope you enjoy.

(This one is going in the show!)
Here is a closer view of the glaze, and the detail in the bark
I am still working on these, any suggestions on how to finish the big one? I'm thinking some sort of textured spray paint. I would love to hear your opinion! the smaller black one is going to have a photo on the top section of it. Images to come later.
This piece was technically a snow catcher, but it had a tree root feel to me.

Before Dawn

I've always liked the time before dawn because there is no one around to remind me who i am supposed to be, so it is easier to remember who i am.

it means I am doing doing something real." Laurie Sellgman
